Day 1: Orlando to Richland WA

Day 1:  Orlando to Richland, WA

Flights from Orlando to Pasco, WA

The day has finally arrived for our long awaited vacation with my inlaws, aunt-in-law and grandmother.  Four of us came from Orlando including me, my husband, my mother-in-law and my father-in-law.  Our car service (Ultimate Towncar) picked us up at 5:3a for our 8:15a flight.  They were 15 minutes early and extremely professional.  I highly recommend them if you need a ride to the Orlando airport, especially since Uber has become so unreliable.

We got to the airport, checked our bags and got through security in under an hour so grabbed breakfast and coffee at Zazas in the airport and waited to board our United Airlines flight. The first flight to Denver was right on time and was an amazing experience.  We were in first class so we got a nice hot breakfast and had plenty of room to stretch out and catch a nap.

We were a little delayed landing in Denver because of high winds so we had to hustle to get to our next flight to Pasco since we had a tight connection.  Luckily the gates were fairly close so we made it before it started boarding.  It was here that we met up with my aunt-in-law and grandmother-in-law who were traveling from Tennessee.

Our flight from Denver to Pasco was on a commuter jet which I’m not very fond of.  First of all, there is no first class and second, you’re crammed onto a tiny plane.  However, the flight was fine and we made it to Richland, WA along with all our luggage.

Accommodations in Richland, WA

The Lodge at Columbia

During our time in Richland, we stayed at The Lodge at Columbia Point which was an awesome hotel.  I would highly recommend them if you’re in the area.  The rooms are very nice, even the sheets are nice and soft, not the usual ones you find in a hotel.  The bed was very comfortable which is one thing I look for when I travel.  I can’t stand an uncomfortable bed because I need my sleep!

Dinner in Richland, WA

After getting settled in our hotel we headed to Lulu’s Craft Bar and Kitchen for a quick snack since we were doing a wine tasting with “heavy h’ordervers” later in the evening.  Lulu’s was within walking distance to our hotel which was nice after spending so many hours on a plane.  They offer a variety of sandwiches, salads,  and burgers.  Food and server were both good.

Fidelitas Winery

Fidelitas Winery

Our final stop of the day before turning in was Fidelitas Winery. We tasted a variety of wine which were all good, but there was no narrative to go with the wine tasting.  Most of the other wine tastings I’ve attended, they pour one wine at a time and give some background on the wine.  For this one, all the wines were poured at once with no narrative.  I was so glad we ate before we were because the ‘heavy h’ordevers’ was a cheese tray.  Definitely not what I’d consider heavy h’ordevers.  If you attend one of their wine tastings be sure to eat before you go!

With all the travel, three hour time difference and wine, we were in bed by 7:30p!

The rest of the time in Washington.
